RUBA'S CONCERN FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AND HUMAN HEALTH
AZO-FREE, NICKEL-FREE and NON-TOXIC PRODUCTS

To protect the environment and human beings from harmful substances is one of the major concerns of Ruba Fermuar. Therefore, azo-dyes which are known to disturb the ecological harmony are not used in production. Furthermore, knowing the harmful effects of nickel, Ruba provides nickel-free products. Non-toxic plastic sliders is another choice offered to customers.

NICKEL-FREE PRODUCTS

Nickel is classified under heavy metals. It has been used alone or with other metals to increase the hardness and brightness of garment   accessories.   According   to research, approximately 15 to 20 percent of women and almost 5 percent of men are allergic to nickel. After repeated contact with the allergen, the allergic illness breaks out in the form of reddening of skin, small blisters, or inflammation. Miralloy® coating is the solution offered by Ruba to the problems caused by nickel coating. Miralloy® coatings are nickel-free and their skin compatibility is proved by wear tests. The appearance, strength and durability of Miralloy® is comparable to that of nickel. Thus it provides a good alternative to nickel coatings.

Besides Miralloy® coatings Ruba Fermuar offers the following nickel-free products:

Zippers

• Brass zippers
• Silver plated brass zippers
• Brass antique, brass oxide plated zippers
• Aluminum zippers
• Delrin zippers
• Polyester zippers

For nickel-free silver look teeth, we suggest aluminum zippers which have been strengthened with a special alloy. The accessories of such zippers are Miralloyâ plated.

Sliders and accessories

• Bright brass and bright silver plated products contain nickel. When nickel-free products are required, it should be noted that the result will be mat.
• None of painted products contain nickel.
• Brass antique and brass oxide plated products are nickel free.
• Copper and copper antique platings are nickel free

It is possible to use two different raw materials in the production of plastic sliders. One is cheaper, but
contains toxic substances that could be harmful for human beings.  The other is more expensive,but
contains no  toxic substances. By providing the non-toxic material, Ruba offers a healthier choice to
its customers.

AZO-FREE DYES

Dyes which contain free heavy metal ions are classified as
Azo-dyes. Under chemical reactions, these dyes produce
ammo acid groups which cause cancer and allergies.
None of the tapes or zippers in chain form dyed by Ruba
contain azo dye.Ruba makes sure that the suppliers which
provide dyes and chemicals to the company share the same
concern for human health.The suppliers are asked to present a statement of guarantee that the materials don't contain
azo-dyes, and their goods are checked by Ruba as well.
