History of RUBA Zipper
Rubalon Komandit Şti. was the first plant which
produced nylon zippers in Turkey when established in Çankaya, izmir in 1963. Ruhrman, a German patent, one of the two patents for polyester zipper in the world, was used in production. The zippers were presented to
the market bearing the mark of Rubalon.
The name of the company was changed to Ruba Fermuar San A.Ş. in 1975 when the plant moved to its
new grounds in Pınarbaşı. Meantime, the production of Ruhrman nylon type 5 closed end and open end zippers were started. First production of spiral type zippers began with type 5 in 1981. This was soon
followed by type 4 in 1982. From 1985 on there was a boom in the production of type 5, type 4 and type 3 with cord. The company started manufacturing metal zippers, types 4 and 5, in 1990. Production of
moulded zippers types 6 and 3, open end type 4 metal, invisible zipper type 3 and type 3 spiral zipper with welded stops were all achieved in 1996-1997.
The company gave importance to the production of machines along with zipper production. The technical workshop established to make the spare parts of machines in 1980 was developed to start the production
of machines. By this way the modernization of the plant was achieved. The production of slider and puller moulds was started when new machines were bought in 1991. In recent years, just as the zipper has unquestionably set its place among the garment accessories, Ruba has focused on the production of sliders and pullers. The moulds and machines used in production of die
casted goods are manufactured by Ruba. In 1995, the firm started production of automatic sliders. Since the beginning of 1996 production of die-casted goods has been computerized. In recent years, the company has started exporting
zippers and sliders to European countries such as Belgium, Germany, Italy, England, Holland and also to Israel and Marocco. Ruba is working with outstanding firms in these countries. Its quality and
especially the quality of sliders have been approved. It's worth noting that with all its experience and knowledge in zipper making, Ruba has been able to
market and help establish a zipper plant in Marocco. Most types of polyester, metal and moulded zippers are being produced in this plant since 1997 .
Throughout the years, the company has given utmost importance to achieve technical perfection in quality, be open to innovations and give the best customer service. However, with the increasing competition in the
growing globel market, Ruba has found it necessary to review its position. The company has seen that in order to have power to compete, each unit and individual within the firm must work effectively. Therefore,
the administration has started a reorganisation process to adapt "Total Quality Management'', a technique applied by many succesful firms.
Today in the Iocal market, the name of Ruba Fermuar is equalled with quality and reliability. The company is aiming to gain the same reputation throughout the world.
